GianPiero Franchi: Horizon March 2026

GianPiero Franchi – HORIZON
Amalfi Series: Sculpture & Prints
26 March – 31 March

Great Pulteney Street Gallery is pleased to present Horizon, a new exhibition by London-based sculpture GianPiero Franchi, showcasing a major body of work developed over the past five years. Rooted in the artist’s profound emotional connection to the horizon line, the exhibition reflects on clarity, grounding, and the search for meaning in a rapidly shifting world.

Conceived during the years following the global pandemic, Horizon originated from a moment of personal and artistic reckoning, Franchi describes this period as one of the overwhelming uncertainty – a time when life felt directionless and “sad”, prompting questions about material, purpose, and the fundamental choices that guide both artistic practice and human experience. “What is my horizon?” Became the central question that drove the development of this series.

The works draw inspiration from the elemental forces of the Amalfi coastline – sky, sea, and the rock – each reflecting a distinct emotional state. The perfectly blue sky represents calm and purity; the ever-moving sea embodies chaos, unpredictability, and the unknown; while the rock stands for permanence, solidity, and endurance. Through their contrasts in texture, movement and meaning, these natural elements offered the artist a renewed sense of clarity on what truly matters.

With Horizon, Franchi invites viewers to confront their own sense of stillness, chaos, and grounding. In a world that moves faster than ever, the exhibition offers a moment to pause and reconnect with the essential forces that shape our inner landscapes. Horizon stands as both a personal reflection and a universal reminder of the enduring human relationship with the horizon – the point where past, present, and possibility meet.
